Gene Duckworth

About Us

Initiated into the IBEW Local 379 in August 1953, Gene Duckworth completed the then 3-year apprenticeship program sponsored by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Association of Electrical Contractors. He worked as a county electrical inspector and a journeyman electrician for various Charlotte contractors prior to establishing  Duckworth Electric Company in 1973.

Invested in the idea that training and education is the key to developing successful employees, Duckworth Electric Company strongly supports the North Carolina Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship program. The company has received numerous awards for its support of training programs, including the “Recognition of Outstanding and Meritorious Service to Apprenticeship” award and the “Charlotte Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Committee’s Recognition for Outstanding Service.”

Gene Duckworth serves the industry as a Fellow  in the Academy of Fellows of NECA. The purposes of the Academy are to honor outstanding leaders in the electrical contracting field and to preserve and utilize for the benefit of the construction industry, the wealth of experience and ability these men and women have developed through their years of dedicated effort.

Mr. Duckworth has continued to play a leadership role in the National Electrical Contractors Association by sitting as a trustee on the Charlotte Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, the Carolina Electrical Retirement Fund, the Southern Electrical Health Fund, and the Atlantic Coast Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association. Mr. Duckworth currently serves as ACC-NECA’s chapter president.
